PHOTO COURSES
In addition to personal one on one home tuition I also offer group courses. These courses are limited to five people and are run over one day in my studio. Each course participant will be provided with a fully illustrated course notes handbook. Morning tea and lunch is included. Keeping class sizes small and having plenty of ‘hands on’ teaching provides quicker learning than a power point presentation only. All courses will incorporate the use of professional models and participants will leave with printed samples their work and a certificate of completion. Studio Lighting One
Use of studio lighting, power controls, modelling lights, soft boxes, umbrellas and reflectors. Use of the main (key) light, fill light and background light, shadow control and lighting ratios. Using a flash meter to obtain a 3:1 lighting ratio exercise. How to establish rapport with the model, camera angles, and composition and poses that work. The do’s and don’ts of portraiture. Selection of backgrounds and creative use of props. Using rim lighting and back lighting for dramatic effects. Working the model to capture the elusive decisive moment you want. Plenty of ‘hands on’ team exercises as various sections are completed. Results will be viewed and assessed ‘on-the-go’ in Photoshop on the studio computer. Studio Lighting Two
